Akira

Helen and Bill wanted a friend to keep Skye company, and when they saw a classified ad in the Guelph Mercury for Akira, they had to have him.  Unfortunately he wasn't in their lives very long, but they loved him deeply.

Skye

Helen jokes that she had Skye before she had Bill.  She adopted Skye when he was 6 months old and he was with them until he was the ripe age of 18.

Jack

I was nervous of them at first, but now I'm so comfortable living with Helen and Bill. They feed me and love me, eventually I'll go on their laps.

Keemone

The Zebedees didn't adopt me, I picked them.  There are no regrets about my decision

KiaOra

As you can see, I don't like it here.  This couch is too uncomfortable and the other cats are too mean to me.

Sakura

Helen once said to Bill, "we're going to have a cat for every bedroom we have".  Bill thought it was a joke.  It wasn't!

Lucky

Okay, so Helen and Bill adopted me from Bide Awhile Animal Shelter; which I guess is where the other four cats in the house came from.

They adopted me shortly after their beloved Nekode passed on after 16 years with them.  If Neko lived that long, and was happy, I know i can with the Zebedee's too.

Helen and Bill came to Bide Awhile shortly before Valentine Day 2016.  I had been brought in by my previous owner and Darrold and his team at Bide Awhile took great care of me.  They would not allow me to spend time in the great adoption room.  You see, I'm a pure breed Himalayan and Darrold (the Executive Director at Bide Awhile) didn't want to put me front and centre because of past experience were a nice couple would come in, adopt a cat over Valentine, and return it a few days later, cause it wasn't what they wanted.

When Helen and Bill came in, Darrold told me that he had some special people for me to meet, and took me into the adoption room.  I didn't really care for meeting the Zebedee's cause there were catnip toys around, but Helen and Bill were patient with me, as I played, and sat beside me.  I would sit up and swat at Bill's hand whenever it got close, but I didn't pull my sharp claws out.  Happily, neither Helen nor Bill were put off by my apparent attitude, and I was going home with them the next day.

I spent the first while getting to know the Zebedee's; jumping up on Bill's lap, pretty much within my first 20 minutes there.  I then got to know Sakura, KiaOra, Keemeone and Jack.  Okay, it was more like I began to torment them.

You see, I thought it was important that I got to know each of them individually, and began by chasing Sakura around the house.  Come on, it was to play with him.  Eventually we became friends, so I moved onto Keemeone.  He was harder to get to know cause he's the king cat in the house, but we are now friends.  Next was KiaOra (what is it with these weird names they give their cats?).  Kia was a hard egg to crack, because he doesn't seem to like anyone but Sakura; matter of fact, if anyone comes to visit Helen and Bill, Kia will hide under the fitted sheet of the bed.  Finally, it was onto Jack (finally, a cat with a normal name), still working on him, as he doesn't often come out from hiding.

There was one day when I went for my 2nd round of vaccinations at the vet.  I wasn't happy and felt funny.  That night Bill grabbed me right where the needle went in and I attacked him; biting his hand and clawing and biting his shin so hard it is still discoloured 6 months later).  I felt bad about that, but the vet thought it best if the Zebedee's put me on Prozac to calm me down.

This treatment is working well, as I'm now sleeping on the pillow between Helen and Bill's at night, and shifting down to Helen's feet, were I sleep the entire night away.

I am extremely happy Helen and Bill brought me into their home and added me to their collection of Fur Babies.

Nekodé

Apparently, before Helen and Bill came to the Guelph SPCA to take me home, I hadn't really liked being touched, but I liked them and I allowed them to touch me.

Lucky

Unlike Jack, I was not nervouse when I arrived at the purple house.  My breed is affectionate and I love laps.  Explored the house a bit, then slept on Bill's lap for a few hours.
