Akira

Helen and Bill wanted a friend to keep Skye company, and when they saw a classified ad in the Guelph Mercury for Akira, they had to have him.  Unfortunately he wasn't in their lives very long, but they loved him deeply.

Skye

Helen jokes that she had Skye before she had Bill.  She adopted Skye when he was 6 months old and he was with them until he was the ripe age of 18.

Jack

I was nervous of them at first, but now I'm so comfortable living with Helen and Bill. They feed me and love me, eventually I'll go on their laps.

Keemone

The Zebedees didn't adopt me, I picked them.  There are no regrets about my decision

Sakura

Helen once said to Bill, "we're going to have a cat for every bedroom we have".  Bill thought it was a joke.  It wasn't!

Skye

I was first introduced to Helen (nee Thomas) in February 1996, and she introduced me to Bill in July of that year.

I was the only cat in Helen's life for a few months, but I never minded what happened in the future.

I made quite the impression on Bill, when Helen invited him over for a tandoori dinner on that evening in July 1996, when I first met him.

You see, I had this thing for sitting on the back of the couch, and I did it very stealthy like.  I quietly crept up behind this male and sat there until he lifted that first fork full of chicken to his lips.  That's when I struck and stole that piece of chicken.  Bill loved me from that moment.

In August of 1996 Helen and Bill brought Akira into our lives.  I fell for him right from the beginning.  We shared the apartment like we were lifelong friends--though Akira was 8 years my senior.

We all moved into Bill's apartment on College Avenue in Guelph, then later would move into Royal City Housing Cooperative Homes, where we would say goodbye to Akira one last time.

It saddened me deeply when Helen and Bill told me that Akira was gone.  I didn't believe them, and searched the apartment from one end to the other looking for him; but I didn't find my buddy.  Instead, one day a new furryball appeared in my life...Nekodé.

Together we lived in peace for a few more years before one day Helen disappeared for a month and came back.  While she was gone, Bill was putting belongings in boxes and selling things to people.  Then, Helen returned and that night Bill gave Neko and I drugs.  Next thing we knew were in Nova Scotia, where we lived on Newcastle Street in a big apartment with three bedroom.  Turns out that the humans wanted a cat per bedroom, so eventually Neko and I found Sakura come into our lives.

We moved from that apartment into a very lovely, large house on Clement Street, where Neko, Sakura and I would sleep, eat and sit and watch the birds, as we continued to loved Helen and Bill.

One thing I noticed was there were now four bedrooms upstairs, which--of course--meant another member of my species would be entering our lives.  Thus we were one day introduced to KiaOra.

Always thought the Zebedees were strange picking bizarre names for us all, but hey, as long as they fed me, I could live with it.

Surprised all of us one day when another cat arrived into our midst, another black cat who was named Keemone.  Pretended I didn't like him, but truth be told, I did.

Then one day it all ended.  Helen and Bill spent hours holding, petting and loving me, but it was time for me to go.

On March 24, 2013, after spending 17 wonderful loving years with Helen and Bill, and being introduced to my friends Akira, Neko, Sakura, KiaOra and Keemone I left this mortal coil, but my time on this earth was made more memorable by the love I felt in the Zebedees' home.

KiaOra

As you can see, I don't like it here.  This couch is too uncomfortable and the other cats are too mean to me.

Nekodé

Apparently, before Helen and Bill came to the Guelph SPCA to take me home, I hadn't really liked being touched, but I liked them and I allowed them to touch me.

Lucky

Unlike Jack, I was not nervouse when I arrived at the purple house.  My breed is affectionate and I love laps.  Explored the house a bit, then slept on Bill's lap for a few hours.
