About

We first met in Guelph, Ontario in 1995, and started dating in July 1996. We married in August 2002 and moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in December of that year.

Ever since they first met Helen had often talked to Bill about wanting to have a garden of her own. We had an alotment garden in Cambridge, Ontario that we shared with our friends (Karl & Jennifer), but it wasn't our own. We also took on the responsibility of maintaining the garden at the housing coopeartive where we lived in Guelph. But, again, it wasn't our own.

Our first place in Dartmouth was an apartment, so not much gardening there. But we bought a house in December 2005 and told our real estate agent that we wanted a "big yard". We ended up with a 10,000+ yard that allowed Helen to cast her mind too; and Bill to cast his muscles too.

Thought she had a strong interest in gardening--working for a gardening retail store in the By-ward Market in Ottawa, Ontario for a number of years--we both agreed that Helen needed to up her skills and interest. So, between 2010 and 2012 she attended the Nova Scotia Master Gardener's Certificate course through the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.

Helen is now a Master Gardener and, as you can see from the pictures on this site, has done a wonderful job plotting where things were going to go.

Bill continues to be the labour and has taken it upon himself to take the pictures you see on this site.
